Freshman diagnosed with ADHD
D’s and F’s in math and science with a C average in his other classes. Very self-conscious. Previously enrolled in a learning center. Had an I.E.P on file.
Matched with a tutor who understood his learning differences. We analyzed in detail his notes, classwork, homework, quizzes and tests. Established that he needed help overall with note-taking, study, and organization skills. In addition, he was lacking in a few fundamental math concepts. We used a unique, engaging, and interactive teaching style to get James excited about learning. He was relieved that tutoring sessions did not just consist of him completing worksheets and turning them into a proctor.
James is now a junior with all A’s and B’s. James is more confident and is praised by his teachers for class participation. Math is not only his favorite subject but his highest grade.
