Yesterday was the Excellence in Business Awards Luncheon for the Prince William County Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce. The Education Committee won Committee of the Year. It was very exciting to see everyone recognized for the hard work that they have done all year in Prince William County, Manassas City, and Manassas Park schools.

With the leadership of the co-chairs, Jamie Medders with Tri-Ed Tutoring and Denyse Carroll with Micron, the education committee was able to help local businesses give back to the school systems. This year, we gave away $1,000 scholarships to twelve extremely hardworking seniors. We organized volunteers from various businesses to read to 24 different elementary schools on National Young Readers Day. The Education Committee also took on a new project this year called Winter Warm-Up. Individuals and businesses teamed up to purchase and donate 550 sweatsuits to schools to ensure that all students had warm clothing for winter.

The Education Committee does such a wonderful job connecting businesses with schools and giving back to the community. It was great to see all of their hard work recognized!
